Couples Therapy in Kelowna, BC
Feeling more like roommates than partners? Stuck having the same argument on repeat? Working through a betrayal, a big transition, or just wanting to understand each other better — couples therapy gives you a space to slow down and actually be heard.
I offer evidence-based couples therapy in person in Kelowna, and online across British Columbia and Alberta.
Is This the Right Fit?
Couples reach out for all kinds of reasons. You might recognize yourself in one of these:
- You keep having the same fight, and nothing seems to resolve it
- Communication feels hard — you either avoid conflict or it escalates fast
- Trust has been broken and you’re not sure how to rebuild it
- You feel distant or disconnected, even though nothing “big” happened
- You’re moving through a major life change together — a new baby, a move, a career shift — and it’s straining the relationship
- You’re not in crisis, but you want a stronger, healthier relationship
This work is also available for families, not just couples — for example, parents navigating conflict with each other around parenting decisions.
My Approach
I draw on two evidence-based approaches to couples work:
Gottman Method. Developed from decades of research on what makes relationships work, Gottman Method focuses on practical skills – how to fight fair, rebuild trust, and stay connected day to day. I have completed Level 1 and 2 training in Gottman Method.
Relational Life Therapy (RLT). RLT looks at the patterns each partner brings into the relationship and how those patterns show up in conflict. I have completed Level 1 training in Relational Life Therapy.
I also draw from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, humanistic-based approaches, and solution-focused techniques to help you develop practical tools while gaining deeper insight into your patterns.
I bring all of this into sessions in a way that’s practical, not academic — the goal is always tools you can actually use to create change
What to Expect
Sessions are 75 minutes — longer than a standard 50-minute therapy hour, because couples work needs the extra time to actually get somewhere in a session, not just open something up and stop.
You can meet in person at my Kelowna office, or online if that works better for your schedule or you’re located elsewhere in BC or Alberta.
Session fee: $300 per 75-minute session.
Many extended health plans include coverage for psychological services — it’s worth checking your plan under “psychologist” to see what’s covered.
Why Work With Me
I’m a Licensed Psychologist (L. Psych.), registered with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC #1014654) and the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP #4452). I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Psychotherapy, and I’ve worked in the mental health field since 2012, in private practice since 2017.
My approach combines clinical training with genuine warmth — I’m not interested in quick fixes or generic advice. Every couple’s situation is different, and the work reflects that.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer online couples therapy?
Yes. Online sessions work well for many couples, especially if schedules are tight or you’re outside Kelowna. Sessions are held over secure video.
How many sessions will we need?
It depends on what you’re working through. Some couples come for a handful of sessions around a specific issue; others meet for longer. We’ll talk about what makes sense as we go.
What if only one of us is ready to start?
That’s okay — reach out and we can talk about the best way to begin.
Do you work with families, or just couples?
Both. If you’re looking for support around a family conflict rather than a couples issue, the same session format applies.
